Bannering its pride as one of the premier Teacher Education Institutions in the country, Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU), through the Physical Education Area of the College of Education (COE), spearheaded the 3rd Research Conference on Physical Education (RCPEd) on October 5, 2024, via Zoom and Google Meet.
This year’s theme, 'Empowering Active Communities: Bridging Physical Education and Sustainable Development for a Healthier Future,' brought together undergraduate and graduate students, along with experts and scholars from across the Philippines, who are engaged in the field of physical education and related disciplines.
The event was divided into two sessions: a plenary discussion and parallel paper presentations.
During the plenary discussion, Mr. Ruben L. Tagare Jr. from the University of Southern Mindanao delivered a lecture on 'Contextualizing the PE Curriculum: Integrating Local Notions of Gen Z in Rural Communities,' while Mr. Joseph T. Lobo of Bulacan State University gave a comprehensive discussion on 'The Role of Individual Interest in Engagement: Gearing Toward Lifelong Participation and Sustainability.'
Meanwhile, the paper presentations were held in seven streams as follows:
• Stream 1: Innovation in PE Teaching and Student Engagement
- Judge: Mr. Ricardo IV R. Bunghanoy of Central Mindanao University
• Stream 2: Performance Enhancement Strategies in Sports Teaching
- Judge: Dr. Jumel C. Millar of Central Luzon State University
• Stream 3: Diversity and Inclusion in PE
- Judge: Dr. Jocelyn A. Floresca
• Stream 4: Quality and Innovation in PE Programs
- Judge: Dr. Arvin A. Andacao of Davao Oriental State University
• Stream 5: Coaching and Strategies and Athlete Development
- Judge: Dr. Jonar T. Martin of Central Luzon State University
• Stream 6: Innovative Approaches in PE and Wellness
- Judge: Dr. Rafael T. Celso of Bulacan State University
• Stream 7: Heritage and Identity in PE and Sports
- Judge: Dr. Michael E. Santos of Central Luzon State University
The conference was headed by Mr. Julius Ceazar G. Tolentino, Conference Chair of the 3rd RCPEd and the Area Chairperson of the Bachelor of Physical Education, Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education, and Bachelor of Science in Sports Science programs at DHVSU.
The 3rd RCPEd was held in partnership with the DHVSU Research Management Office, led by its Director, Dr. Robin B. Dimla; the College of Education (COE), led by its Dean, Dr. Riza B. Lintag; and the Physical Education Majors’ Society.
