As one of the Philippine universities embracing diverse forms of innovation in today’s educational landscape, Pampanga State University (PampangaStateU), formerly Don Honorio Ventura State University, secured the 338th spot in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2025, under the Global Top 400 Innovative Universities, as announced on the WURI website on July 10, 2025.
The University also earned recognition across multiple WURI 2025 categories:
• Rank 15 – Visionary Leadership (B1)
• Rank 27 – SDG-Based Responses to Global Challenges (A8)
• Rank 32 – Entrepreneurial Spirit (A4)
Pampanga State University (PampangaStateU) is among the 1,253 universities from 87 countries that joined the WURI 2025 global rankings, featuring 4,866 cutting-edge innovative programs.
The University’s application to the WURI 2025 Rankings was spearheaded by University President Dr. Enrique G. Baking and Engr. Reden Hernandez, Executive Vice President.
The core team was composed of Dr. Robin Dimla, director of the Research Management Office; Engr. Rhoderick Favorito, director of the Extension Services Office; Dr. Dynah Soriano, director of the Training Services Office; Engr. Anna Liza Nacion, director of the Knowledge Management and Innovation Office; and Veata Monina Santos, head of the technical writers.
Dr. Ranie Canlas, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Training, and Extension, and Dr. Dolores Quiambao, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, served as consultants.
“Congratulations to the entire PampangaStateU community, especially to the core team, project leads, and technical writers,” Engr. Hernandez expressed.
He further shared that this remarkable achievement signifies the University’s commitment to its mission and solidifies its aspirations to create innovative solutions with global impact.
The WURI criteria in 2025 introduced key changes compared to the previous rankings that reflects the belief in an institution’s true strength, shifted perspective and expanded scope of innovation, and a balance between the categories involved.
WURI focuses on value innovation, differentiation, and long-term societal and industrial impact, aiming to establish a novel and future-oriented higher education ranking system.
